Emodin is an organic substance with the chemical formula C15H10O5. It is orange-yellow long needle-shaped crystal. It crystallizes in acetone as orange and in methanol as yellow. Its melting point is 256℃~257℃. It has a special reaction of anthraquinone. It is almost insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol and alkaline solution.
